Teacher Assistant & Academic Enrichment Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Are you a motivated, detail-oriented team player who cares deeply about student success? We are seeking a Teacher Assistant to support our lead teachers and help students stay on track academically. In this role, you will help create a calm, organized learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and proud of their progress.

You will help monitor student performance, track assignments and assessment results, and flag concerns early so support is timely and effective. You will also work closely with teachers, students, and families to reinforce study habits, encourage accountability, and keep learning goals clear. The right candidate brings strong communication skills, reliable follow-through, and a commitment to helping students build confidence and reach high academic standards.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Academic Progress & Achievement Coordination:

  • Direct Progress Monitoring: Work directly with lead teachers to meticulously track the academic progress of all assigned students, with a primary focus on achieving and maintaining a 4.0 GPA or higher. This includes monitoring grades, assignment completion, and participation across all subjects.

  • Proactive Intervention & Support: Identify students who may be at risk of falling below academic targets and collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized intervention strategies. This may include coordinating tutoring, supplemental resources, or differentiated instruction.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Compile and analyze student academic data to identify trends, inform instructional adjustments, and generate comprehensive progress reports for internal review.

  • Goal Setting & Motivation: Assist students in setting ambitious academic goals and provide ongoing encouragement and strategies to help them achieve these benchmarks.

  • Resource Curation: Identify and curate high-quality academic enrichment resources, online tools, and supplemental materials to support advanced learning and remediation as needed.

II. Communication & Parent/Student Engagement:

  • Weekly Academic Notifications: Prepare and send comprehensive weekly notifications to parents and students, detailing upcoming assignments, homework, quizzes, tests, and any relevant academic updates or deadlines.

  • High-Level Inquiry Resolution: Serve as a primary point of contact for high-level academic inquiries from parents and teachers, providing accurate, timely, and comprehensive responses regarding student progress, curriculum, and school policies.

  • Parent-Teacher Conference Support: Assist in preparing for and facilitating parent-teacher conferences, providing detailed academic summaries and contributing to discussions about student progress and support plans.

  • Student Accountability & Organization: Guide students in developing effective organizational skills, time management strategies, and study habits to ensure consistent academic performance.

  • Promoting a Growth Mindset: Encourage a positive attitude towards learning and problem-solving, fostering resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement in students.

III. Teacher Assistant & Classroom Support:

  • Direct Classroom Assistance: Provide comprehensive support to lead teachers in daily classroom operations, including preparing instructional materials, setting up learning centers, and managing classroom routines.

  • Small Group & Individualized Instruction: Work with small groups of students or provide one-on-one support under the direction of the lead teacher, reinforcing concepts and providing differentiated instruction.

  • Behavioral Support: Assist in managing student behavior and promoting a positive and respectful learning environment in accordance with school policies.

  • Observation & Documentation: Observe student behaviors, learning styles, and progress, and provide valuable feedback to the lead teacher to inform instructional planning.

  • Classroom Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment, ensuring all materials are accessible and properly stored.

  • Supervision: Supervise students during various activities, including playtime, mealtimes, and transitions, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Child Development Associate Degree (CDA) or higher strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of the behaviors and developmental stages of infant/toddler/pre-school/school age children, typically gained by working one year or more in a school or preschool setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety practices as they relate to infant/toddler/preschool/school age children.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in using technology for communication, data tracking, and resource management (e.g., Google Workspace, student information systems).

  • Infant, Child, and Adult CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire or achieve certification within 30 days from date of hire.
