A grade alone may not explain why a student is struggling. A student may understand some grade-level skills but need support with a prerequisite concept, reading comprehension, computation fluency, writing mechanics, or another foundational skill.
The 4.0 Labs Academic Skills Assessment gives families a focused view of the student’s current performance in one subject. A tutor conducts the assessment, and a 4.0 Labs advisor explains the findings and recommended next steps.

Custom Parent Report
The report is based on the student’s assessment performance and tutor observations. It is not a generic worksheet or automated score summary.
48-Hour Turnaround
The custom report and learning roadmap are prepared within 48 hours after the completed assessment.

ASSESSMENT CREDIT
Apply the Full $195 Toward Ongoing Tutoring
The full $195 assessment fee can be credited toward an Achiever Plan or Mastery Plan when the family enrolls in the selected plan with a three-month commitment.
To receive the credit, enrollment must be completed within 30 calendar days of the advisor results review. The credit is applied once and has no cash value.

How to Help Your Student Prepare
No studying or special preparation is required.
Choose a Good Time
Schedule when the student is likely to be rested, fed, and able to focus.
Bring Basic Materials
Have pencils, blank paper, and any requested technology ready.
Share Optional School Information
Recent report cards, teacher feedback, test results, or sample work may provide useful context but are not required.
Keep the Pressure Low
Explain that the assessment is not a pass-or-fail test. It helps the team understand how to support the student.
SCHEDULING POLICIES
Cancellation, Rescheduling, and Late Arrival
Clear expectations help protect family schedules and reserved tutor time.
24-Hour Notice
Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the appointment for no fee. Cancellations made within this window are eligible for a full refund.
One Complimentary Reschedule
Each paid assessment includes one complimentary reschedule when notice is provided at least 24 hours in advance. The new appointment should occur within 30 days.
Late Arrival and No-Show
The appointment still ends at the scheduled time. Arrival more than 15 minutes late may be treated as a no-show because the full testing window is needed.
Late Changes and Emergencies
Changes with less than 24 hours’ notice and no-shows are nonrefundable. A one-time exception may be approved for illness or a family emergency.

Who explains the results to the parent?
A 4.0 Labs advisor reviews the custom report with the parent, explains the main findings, answers questions, and discusses possible next steps.
How quickly will we receive the report?
The custom parent report and learning roadmap are delivered within 48 hours after the student completes the assessment.
Can the $195 be applied toward tutoring?

Is the assessment available online or in person?
Available formats are confirmed during the advisor callback based on the student’s grade, selected subject, location, tutor availability, and the type of tasks needed for the assessment.
Does my child need to study before the assessment?
No. The purpose is to understand the student’s current skills. A rested student, a quiet environment, and basic materials are more helpful than studying.
Is this a diagnostic or special education evaluation?
No. This is an instructional academic skills assessment used to guide tutoring recommendations. It does not diagnose a disability or replace an evaluation from a school or licensed professional.
